bsColosseum - Discography (1969-2003)

Genre: Progressive jazz-rock | 12 Albums | MP3 320 kbps | 1.42 GB

The influential British progressive team "Colosseum" is the brainchild of drummer and lyricist John Heisman. Formerly of the "Graham Bond organization" and "John Mayall's bluesbreakers" Heisman founded the group back in 1968. Company he was former colleagues "Bluesbreakers" bassist Tony Reeves and saxophonist Dick Hekstoll-Smith. By the way, even before the "Blyuzbreykerov" Heisman and Reeves played a little-known band "Wez minster five" with a virtuoso keyboardist Dave Greenslade, who was also invited to the new project. COMPLETED composition singer and guitarist Jim Roche. He, however, did not wait to start recording their debut album and dumped into the shadows, giving way to James Literlendu. The very first plastic, "For Those About To Die We Salute You", broke into the best of British twenty. Her example was followed by the second, which was released in the same year the album "Valentyne Suite".

Despite this success the third LP, "The Grass Is Greener", has been published for some reason only in America. The album was involved was the new guitarist, Clem Klempson, formerly of the "Bakerloo". And just before you received an invitation to the "Colosseum" Clem was playing in an ensemble that did not have names, along with drummer Cozy Powell and bassist Dave Pegg. Leapfrog with the composition did not end there, and soon left the team Literlend, served in the "Mogul thrash". And by the time the third UK album release, "Daughters Of Time", was replaced by Tony Reeves Mark Clark. In addition, the team added vocalist Chris Farlowe (John Deighton).
Before the release of live album "Colosseum Live" group managed to get a contract from the influential label "Bronze". However, it did not save the team from internal problems, and in October 1971 it was disbanded. Musicians were scattered in different directions - Greenslade, taking the Reeves founded his "Greenslade", Farlow went to the "Atomic rooster", and Klempson a little hang out with "Snafu", moved to "Humble pie".
Clark founded the Heisman and difficult project "Tempest" in the company of jazz-rock guitarist Allan Holdsworth and former member of "Juicy Lucy" by Paul Williams. This team has released a couple of albums, and then decided to revive his Heisman former project under the guise of "Colosseum II". However, this is not really going well and soon a second "Coliseum" also ceased to exist. It was another order of time before former colleagues came together again. It happened in 1994 when the "Colosseum" sample of 1971, again took the stage. It turned out that the interest in the band even extinguished and the musicians played with a full house of about 70 European shows. On the basis of these performances was released live album, as well as the corresponding video.
Three years later, busy with their chores musicians have finally found the time to record a studio album in 1997, pleased their fans, the release of "Bread And Circuses". The next year, have been reissued on CD early releases "Colosseum". Since then the band has been on tour again, but this is fairly rare.
